ABOUT

José Cunéo, born in 1965 in Argentina, began his artistic journey at a young age in Buenos Aires. From early adulthood, he embraced his destiny as an artist, capturing the essence of reality through his pencil's intricacies. His creative path took a transformative turn in the 1990s, leading him towards new artistic horizons.

In this period, his imagination flourished, and his canvas became a fertile ground for innovative creations. Using acrylic pigments, José crafted ethereal three-dimensional artworks, inviting viewers to dive into his unique universe. His Boîtes Magiques, true beacons of light, reveal the hidden beauty of everyday life.

José's art transcends material boundaries to address profound human issues. He is actively involved in the fight against HIV and passionately advocates for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Each of his creations is imbued with his convictions, weaving a visual narrative rich in authenticity and emotion.

A significant turning point in José's artistic journey was his decision to abstain from alcohol, achieving 13 years of sobriety. This liberation from dependency sharpened his perspective and deepened his introspection. He turned to simple materials and rudimentary tools, rediscovering the magic of creation in its purest form. Every fold of cardboard and cut of scissors reflects the essence of his artist's soul.

Today, José continues to explore the depths of his imagination, constantly pushing the boundaries of his creative expression. His captivating Boîtes Magiques and compelling comics are testaments to his artistic genius. By sharing his expertise through inspiring workshops, he ignites the passion of future artists. Always seeking new avenues to express his unique worldview, José leaves an indelible mark on the history of art and culture.
